Sardar Usman Ahmad Khan Buzdar

Sardar Usman Ahmad Khan Buzdar is a Pakistani political and tribal figure from Barthi in the Dera Ghazi Khan region. He belongs to the Buzdar tribal family and is the son of Sardar Fateh Muhammad Khan Buzdar, a former member of the Punjab Assembly and Tumandar of the Buzdar tribe.

Born in 1969, Usman Buzdar received his early education in his native region and later studied in Multan. He obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree and a Master's degree in Political Science from Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan.

His public career began in local government. He served as a member of the Dera Ghazi Khan District Council and later served as Tehsil Nazim of the Tribal Area during Pakistan's local-government system of the early 2000s.

Buzdar contested the 2013 Punjab Assembly election from Taunsa Sharif but was unsuccessful. In the 2018 general election, he was elected to the Punjab Assembly from PP-286, Dera Ghazi Khan-II, on a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf ticket.

On 19 August 2018, he was elected Chief Minister of Punjab and served in that office from August 2018 until April 2022. He was the 16th Chief Minister of Punjab.

Following the death of his father, Sardar Fateh Muhammad Khan Buzdar, in 2019, Usman Buzdar was selected as the 10th chief of the Buzdar tribe at a traditional Pagh Bandi ceremony in Barthi.

His public life has combined electoral politics, local government, legal education, agriculture and traditional tribal leadership, linking his career closely with the Dera Ghazi Khan and Koh-e-Suleman region.
